Throughout my many years as a podiatrist, one complaint I hear the most from my patients is unsightly thick toenails. Over the years, many different treatment methods and philosophies have emerged; ranging from creams and gels, intense oral medication regimens, to physically removing the nail. The laser light passes through the toenail without damaging the toenail or surrounding skin, but is extremely effective at eliminating the invading organisms.While the toenail will not become instantly clear following treatment, the previously infected portion will grow out over a period of 8 to 10 months.
