Zapping Ugly Toenails

Throughout my many years as a podiatrist, one complaint I hear the most from my patients is unsightly thick toenails. Over the years, many different treatment methods and philosophies have emerged; ranging from creams and gels, intense oral medication regimens, to physically removing the nail. I’ve tried every possibility I felt was safe enough for my patients, but have never found full satisfaction with the results.  This is why I am now suggesting laser therapy for better symptom resolution.

While the term ‘laser therapy’ may sound scary, it is absolutely safe.  Our laser procedure takes about 30 minutes to treat both of your feet, uses only infrared light and is virtually pain free.  The laser light passes through the toenail without damaging the toenail or surrounding skin, but is extremely effective at eliminating the invading organisms. While the toenail will not become instantly clear following treatment, the previously infected portion will grow out over a period of 8 to 10 months.  Depending on the severity of your condition, multiple treatments may be necessary to ensure the desired results.

If you want to finally get rid of your discolored, cracked, thick toenails without the risk of complications from oral medications, come see me at Crofton Podiatry in the heart of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. If you’re still not convinced, click on the link below to watch a great interview from Good Morning America on the safety and effectiveness of laser therapy, then drop by so we can talk about the options that are best for you.
